Experienced Financial Advisor:
Kim was already a licensed financial advisor prior to moving to Edward Jones. Read her story to find out why she joined and stayed to develop a successful practice at Edward Jones.
“I was a fully licensed advisor with another firm. It is important to me to always do what is in my clients’ best interest. At my previous firm, I felt advisors were pressured on the investments to use within clients’ portfolios. Drastic changes were made to payout schedules, and the compensation started to shrink. I began to contemplate a move and was surveying my options.
“Edward Jones was not on my radar at the time, but one of my colleagues suggested that I should consider all options. I had received a couple of communications from Edward Jones by then, and I thought I would explore it further. The head of financial advisor talent acquisition came to Charlottetown, and we scheduled a dinner meeting.
“During the dinner, we talked about many things, one of them being our passion for dogs. It turned out we knew many of the same people. We had a long chat, half of it spent talking about Edward Jones. I made the decision to explore this opportunity along with others. At that time, I was also dealing with my daughter’s ski injury, and we had frequent medical trips to Halifax. I knew transitioning my business would be a very busy time. I did not want to make a decision until my daughter was healed. While all other firms pressured me to make a decision, Edward Jones called to ask about my daughter.
“At that point, having done my research, my mind was made up: I was going to Edward Jones. They moved mountains for me and helped me open a new branch office in 2017.
“Doing what’s right for my clients is very important to me. Edward Jones talks about how important their clients are. Here, financial advisors are given the best tools to assess what is truly best for the clients, and there are no proprietary products. We are not pressured into buying something that is more profitable for the firm.
“What is also unique is having a branch office administrator (BOA) who allows me to do my job, whereas at other brokerage firms, I needed to spend time doing the administrative duties.
“I have the job satisfaction here that I never had anywhere else, and the reason for that is the leadership opportunities – I am given plenty, to develop myself and to help other newer advisors. At Edward Jones, everybody matters, and you can grow as much as you want. The sky is the limit, and it makes coming to work very exciting. I love to coach and help less-experienced advisors, and I am able to do that in this job. What I do truly matters here, and it’s an amazing feeling.”

Prior to joining Edward Jones, Toddye was a financial planner at one of the major banks. With limited growth opportunities, he felt the need to change and looked for an environment that would allow not only personal career growth, but also the ability to deliver exceptional service and to change clients’ lives. He found this unique combination at Edward Jones.
“Before joining Edward Jones, I worked as a financial planner at one of the major banks. While it was a good job, I felt I wasn’t given the opportunity to grow, and I wasn’t able to provide the best client-centric experience due to limitations set by the firm.
“When I began looking at an opportunity with Edward Jones, it resonated with me right away. Edward Jones focuses on its clients without any proprietary products, so I can provide my clients with an unbiased opinion.
“Through its training programs, Edward Jones allowed me to learn everything about building and running a successful practice. The compensation model ensures a steady income while still working on building up the business.
“It was only after I joined the firm that I discovered the true value of everything that is available to Edward Jones’ financial advisors. I was able to have my own branch within my local community. In addition, I was able to hire a firm-paid branch office administrator whose primary focus is on our clients.
“I have access to some of the best and constantly improving tools to support my clients’ financial plans and portfolios, and with the home-office support for everything from administration to market analysis to research, I am truly able to focus on building my business and serving my clients.
“The value we, as financial advisors, provide to our clients is significant, and we see it in our clients’ lives every day. I had a client who unexpectedly lost her husband and was faced with having to deal with all the family finances. She felt lost and turned to me for support. When all was taken care of, she felt very relieved. It was an emotional day for both of us. That is why I love my job – the ability to help others through good and bad times.
“The culture at Edward Jones is also one of a kind. Edward Jones’ financial advisors help each other through the sharing of best practices and mentoring programs. With the support provided, I was able to build a steadily growing business, provide for my family and do rewarding work daily by helping my clients achieve their financial goals. That is proof that I made the right decision to join Edward Jones.”

Edouard Saidah worked as a financial advisor for a couple of different financial institutions before switching to Edward Jones. Edouard saw Edward Jones as an attractive career destination because of the firm’s in-depth training and ongoing support for financial advisors and their practices.
“I’ve previously worked for two other financial institutions. Those two experiences taught me a few things, one of which was that I do not want to work for anyone else.
“I don’t need a firm to help me be transparent with my clients, but Edward Jones makes it easy. At Edward Jones I have the true ability to ask my client what it is that they want and work to deliver exactly that.
“The magnitude and depth of support for financial advisors often goes unnoticed because you only experience it when you visit our home office locations.
“If I were to single out the key secret ingredients to the support our financial advisors receive, I would say the first is the Branch Office Administrator and second the veteran financial advisors who volunteer their time and experience. That work is done in the spirit of true partnership and, I believe, cannot be found anywhere else.”
