The Edward Jones retirement plan consists of two parts: A Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (Group RRSP) and a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP). And we put the emphasis on profit sharing – a firm contribution as a percentage of your paid compensation made to your account annually on a pre-tax basis.
- (DPSP), while not guaranteed, is tied to the firm’s profitability, allowing the opportunity for larger contributions to your retirement savings in years of success.
Historically, the contribution has averaged over 4% of an associate’s total compensation (including bonuses). You’re 100% vested on day one. - The Group RRSP gives you additional security for retirement.
When combined, the total contribution of both the profit sharing and the Group RRSP match has averaged nearly 5% of the typical associate’s salary over the past 10 years – much higher than the most common employer match of just 3%.

In 1922, Edward D. Jones Sr. established Edward D. Jones and Co., built on a simple principle – treat clients and associates fairly – that has stood the test of time and guides our transformation into the future. Our “share the work-share the rewards” approach to compensating associates, and an investment philosophy that takes a long-term view of success.
- 1922 – Edward D. Jones Sr. establishes Edward D. Jones & Co.
- 1957 -The firm’s first community based branch office opens in Mexico, MO
- 1968 – Ted Jones becomes the firm’s second managing partner
- 1986 – The firm celebrates the opening of its 1,000th office, located in Stoughton, WI
- 2008 – The firm has grown to over 11,000 Financial Advisors in the U.S. and Canada
- 2019 – Penny Pennington becomes the firm’s sixth managing partner
