Insider Stories Series: Culture

Video Transcript

[00:00:10.15] - Narrator

Welcome to the Edward Jones Insider Stories.

[00:00:13.05] - Narrator

Today, our financial advisors are talking about culture.

[00:00:18.12] - Jill Hitchock

It is an absolute culture of caring and compassion and doing what's right for people, whether those people are employees or the clients.

[00:00:28.14] - Michael Fessler

It's all the way down to surveys that they're sending you from home office on. How is our technology? How are our platforms? What would. What do you want to see? Where should we drive the business to? It's the fact that they actually ask that means so much to me. They really do care about your business, and it's not for their benefit. It's for your benefit. I don't know that you could ever explain accurately what the culture of the firm is, because you really have to feel it to understand it.

[00:00:55.06] - Nicholas Pennino

There's something to be said when you strip away the charts and the software and you just get somebody in a natural environment where you can share a meal and really listen and learn their story. That connection really is, in my opinion, what this business is all about.

[00:01:09.14] - Michael Fessler

Hard to get used to in the beginning because you're used to just, hey, I come to work, I run my business, I get paid, and that's great. But when you come to Edward Jones, you really do feel like you're an owner of the firm, and so your opinion really does matter.

[00:01:22.06] - Kristy Stadnyk

I want to help people, and I want to be the best family member that I can. And at Edward Jones, I have the opportunity to do both.

[00:01:31.19] - Bryn Henderson

I think their perception of what we are versus the reality probably doesn't match.

[00:01:37.11] - Jill Hitchock

Each branch the way that they are put together with the advisor and the branch office administrator. Each operates as a small business, if you will.

[00:01:48.21] - Bryn Henderson

I think it's something that you can't understand until you experience it. The culture at Edward Jones of support, of encouragement, of helping one another build businesses, as opposed to being competitive and trying to get ahead at all costs. It's so different than the culture in so much of corporate world. It's something that it's very, very tough to describe, but people start to experience it, and it's something that keeps them.

[00:02:17.16] - Suzie Atondo

At Edward Jones here, you actually matter. Your voice means something. When you call the home office, you talk to a person that knows who you are. They know your business.

[00:02:27.05] - Jill Hitchock

I love even being able to utilize the volunteering and the community outreach that our branches in our area do. And I know that that's a big thing with Edward Jones is giving back to the community.

[00:02:41.23] - Suzie Atondo

It's just different. It's special.
