Welcome to the Edward Jones Insider stories. Today, financial advisors Jill and Bryn will be talking about our transparent compensation structure.

The total compensation is one of those things that is a little bit more complex than most people expect. There's a lot of different pieces and they just stack on top of each other. And so when you look at all those pieces and how they add up over the course of a year, over the course of a career, it's something that most people really don't understand until they take the time. Things like branch profitability, bonuses,

Not to mention being a full time employee, the health benefits, vision, dental, 401k, everything that goes along with that. It's a bit mind boggling and sometimes I feel like I have to pinch myself to make sure it's, it's not a dream.

My wife's favorite form of compensation that we receive is the travel award programs. I've gone on a lot of trips. It's a fantastic additional piece of compensation that we receive. And every financial advisor has the opportunity to qualify every six months to sign up and go on a trip. Sometimes I go with just my wife, sometimes I take my whole family. And we've been all over the world, taken a ton of great trips and I must say I have never been on a bad one. So every time they exceed my expectations.

It is an absolute culture of caring and compassion and doing what's right for people, whether those people are employees or the clients. The biggest firm support that was impactful to me and helped us build our practice is that the firm provided an onboarding specialist for the first three weeks that helped us with learning the new systems, onboarding clients that was invaluable to our success.
